I am from Cumming, GA but I was raised in LA (Lower Alabama). I come from a family of foodies. I have worked in bakeries and the food industry since I was 14. I got my first degree in Baking and Pastry Arts at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC. After an internship I was hired at Sugarland Bakery in Chapel Hill, NC were I worked for about 1 year and then decided to go back to school. I ended up here at State getting my bachelor's in Food Science and I have continued on to get my Masters in Food Science with a Minor in Teaching. I love pinterest, gardening, shooting guns, and most of all food! Cheers & Hail State!
Hey y'all, my name is Morgan. I'm from Olive Branch, MS, home of the Conquistadors! I'm currently a sophomore in the food science program with a concentration in science. My love for food came from my father, as I always wanted to help in the kitchen. I also knew I never wanted I typical job like either of my parents; I had to be different. I currently serve as a member of the Product Development team and the captain for our Food Science College Bowl team. As for continuing my college career, I plan to get a master's degree, in what, well I'm not sure myself.
I currently work in the Muscle Foods Chemistry lab as a graduate student. Under the tutelage of Dr. Wes Schilling, I worked on an undergraduate research project studying the effects of fiber and starch on oil absorption in breading systems and my current research focuses on Salmonella reduction in poultry parts. My research interests include product development and microbiology. My goal is to work as a Food Scientist in Research and Development.
I am from Changsha, China and I am in my second year of my doctorate studies. I have my Bachelor's degree in Biosecurity from Hunan Agricultural University, China and Master's in Plant Pathology at Mississippi State University. I worked with my dad on smoked meat products when I was an undergrad in China, that experience motivated me to pursue the science behind meats. And now my dream came true. I am working with Dr. Schilling on dry cured ham research, and I am also interested in food chemistry, food flavor and sensory science. At the same time, I had the opportunity to know different research with grad student in our lab. It is really AWESOME!!!
Hey visitor to the Food Science Club website! My name's Hannibal, I'm from Pensacola, Fl, and joined the club because I like science and food, obviously. Getting to slap labels on boxes to be sent out is the highlight of my day. Go MSU! Go UPS! (Unless we switch shippers). Oh, and I'm a Food Science Major.
My name is Malcolm, my game is marketing, and my favorite game is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As head of marketing I ensure that all the club's wonderful products can find homes in the bellies of happy customers. Posters, radio, TV, letters; all forms of media are deployed at my beck and call to sell that sweet, sweet jelly.
I am a transfer from Jones County Junior College, and my major is Nutrition. I am a member of the Student Dietetic Association at Mississippi State and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I'm also a CALS Ambassador. I will apply for a dietetic internship my senior year in requirement of becoming a Registered Dietitian. I then plan to obtain my Master's Degree in nutrition specializing in weight management and diabetes.
